Anjelah Johnson Husband and Family

Anjelah Johnson was born in San Jose, California. She wasn’t born famous or rich so she didn’t have money for some expensive schools and colleges so she found herself in the comedy. Moreover, she said that she didn’t know that she was funny and she was told so by her friends. The mutual thing for all her family members, including her brother Kennie Johnson and sister Veronica Johnson, is that good sense of humor.

She took joke writing classes in a church and the only reason for that was that it was completely free. That is where she found out that she is good at telling stories, so she began creating her own shows. Stand up comedy was her deal and she keeps on bringing stories from her own life and making the funny. Those stories are something she has experienced in her life, and since she is from an ethnically diverse neighborhood those stories are pretty diverse too. Apart from those stories, the most of her improvisations come from her family, relationship with her boyfriend and her girlfriends.

On June 11, 2011, Anjelah married Group 1 Crew member and a CEO of Warner Brothers, Manwell Reyes. They married in Half Moon Bay, California. The relationship between them is a very private one, and far from the public eye. The only things we can learn about it are from sketches but there is one big question if those stories are true. That is a performance in the end. The only things that got through the press are their opinions about kids. They don’t want them. They only want to enjoy life, travel and play with their nieces and nephews.

Anjelah Johnson as a cheerleader

Anjelah had an opportunity to become a successful NFL cheerleader if one can actually make a career from it. She had the looks for that and since she had some experience in dancing, that was an easy job for her.

One of the things you should know about the career of Anjelah Johnson, tied with cheerleading job is that she was on the field during the Super Bowl. That is perhaps one of the least important details about her career but one of the most interesting for all the men out there. The thing is that she had never been to the NFL game before she applied for the position of a cheerleader and she immediately got the job. She was a cheerleader for Oakland Raiders, and her team got all the way to the Super Bowl.

As soon as the Super Bowl was finished, she packed her things and moved to LA to pursue the career of an actress. We don’t know why she did it all of a sudden, but it seems like it was a good idea.

She has been acting since then, and that’s a period of 15 years. During that period, she took the improve classes and began making her own shows. She was actually writing the comedy. The two of her most popular performances are a Vietnamese nail salon employee Tammy, and a rude fast food employee Bon Qui Qui. She quickly began working in Comedy Central and has appeared in a number of full feature movies as an actress and a voice actor. Because she became a worldwide celebrity, she also became a spokesperson for Taco Cabana in 2011, and a national campaign spokesperson for the “Don’t be an S.O.V” (Single Occupancy Vehicle).

Anjelah Johnson Tammy

Her most recognizable routine was her impression of a Vietnamese nail salon employee which became popular on MySpace. Yeah, that was back in 2007 when MySpace was popular. Anjelah Johnson based that character on her Vietnamese friend and viola, instant popularity…. Well, not that instant.

She started with the stand up a couple of months before she made up that character. Her first impressions were not that popular, and she had to try and convince the crowd that she is funny. She was talking about that in one of her interviews. She said that she went onto the stage with makeup and her hair done… But that was something that threw the crowd away from her performance and just made the crowd looking at her. The manager of that club told her after the show to change her appearance for her “stand up”.

Anjelah Johnson simplified her looks, dressed more modest and tied her hair in a ponytail. That was a hit, and she never tried to be attractive on stage ever again. Her video went viral and hundreds of new fans quickly contacted her and that is how her career begun.

Anjelah Johnson Bon Qui Qui

Her second popular character is a noisy rude fast food employee “Bon Qui Qui”. She actually made that character out of two main characters and a bunch of others she has met through her life. The first two “role models” were her brother and an actual “drive through” employee. Anjelah Johnson chose her brother because (as she said in an interview) “doesn’t have a filter, he says whatever he wants to say, and he has a little bit of hood in him”. The other character is just one random, unnamed, rude drive through an employee that Anjelah remembered.

After Anjelah Johnson gained an unprecedented popularity with her sketches and after her videos became viral before viral was a thing, her characters became legends. That is why she got an opportunity to perform on MADtv with her characters on a number of occasions. She has even made a name for herself as a comedian and she annually goes on world tours as a stand-up comedian. She uses those tours to make documentaries and further advance her career. The newest project she is working on is “Anjelah Johnson: Mahalo & Good Night” and it should come out sometime in 2017.

Anjelah is at the beginning of her career and she chose a really tough career. You have to work really hard to please every crowd, prepare your own scripts, write your stories and in the end, you get to see immediately whether or not your work is good. The immediate response from the crowd is probably something that comedians like, but Anjelah Johnson’s job is not paid as much as it should be. That is why her net worth is “only” $500,000.

Is Anjelah Johnson Lesbian?

There were lots of people who thought that Anjelah Johnson is lesbian. She once addressed that on one of her performances and used that as her sketch.
