Stern began working as a radio host in 1976 and continued doing so until 1982. During that time he worked for WRNW in Briarcliff Manor, New York, WCCC in Hartford, Connecticut, WWWW in Detroit, Michigan, and WWDC in Washington, D.C. But in 1982 he began working at WNBC in New York City, where he was eventually fired from in 1985. But this only leads to his 20-year long run on at WXRK in New York City with his morning show.

His popularity was so high that it earned him various awards. It helped him sign one of the most lucrative deals in 2004 with Sirius worth $500 million.

Howard also had a lot of success outside the radio. Since 1992, he hosted and produced a lot of shows which include a lot of television shows, home videos and pay-per-view events. He even has two award-winning books, “Private Parts” (1993) and “Miss America” (1995). The latter was turned into a biographical comedy about Howard Stern and a movie starring Howard Stern himself about his life, released in 1997.

Soon after the divorce, Stern began an affair with Beth Ostrosky. Beth is an American author, model, actress and animal rights activist. They started dating despite the fact that his wife is almost 20 years younger. This never seemed to bother Stern.  The couple was engaged on February 13, 2007, after seven years long relationship. Stern and Ostrosky were married on October 3, 2008, at Le Cirque restaurant in New York City. The list of guests included names such as Billy Joel, Barbara Walters, and US president Donald Trump.
