Ian McShane Biography

Ian McShane is a veteran British actor with a very long IMBD record. He started his career in his native country of England and has expanded it to America over a period of time. He is mostly known for his roles in the BBC series “Lovejoy” and the HBO series “Deadwood”. For the latter, he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series Drama in 2005 for his performance and role of Al Swearengen.

He soon started making a name for himself overseas. There he got his most iconic role of his career when he was cast as Al Swearengen. He was the star of HBO’s “Deadwood” from 2004 to 2006 and was promptly awarded for his performance.

Most recently Ian McShane has been all over the place. He expanded his career to both TV and movies and has stared in a whole bunch of them. Some movies that you will remember him from include “The Golden Compass” (2007), “Hot Rod” (2007), “Death Race” (2008), “The Seeker: The Dark is Rising” (2007), “Jack the Giant Slayer” (2013), “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” (2011), “John Wick” (2014) and “John Wick: Chapter 2” (2017).

He did not stop with appearances in TV series. He has a number of them with having roles in “The West Wing”, “Game of Thrones” and “Pillars of the Earth” where he has the main roles in the series. Ian is currently one of the main characters on Starz’s “American Gods”, where he portrays Mr. Wednesday.
