Rob Dyrdek Skateboarding Career

Rod turned pro in 1991 when he was only 16. He says that when he was in class, all he could think about was the tricks he would try as soon as school was over for the day. With such an intense skateboarding focus, it is not surprising that he dropped out of school to pursue his heart’s desire.

At 12 years, Rod got a sponsorship from Droors Clothing, now DC Shoes, a sponsorship that lasted from 1995 to 2016. This was the same companythat was sponsoring Neil Blender. When the two met, they decided to drop the sponsorship to start their innovative venture, Alien Workshop, a company for skateboards and their accessories.

Rod has taken part in, and won, many skateboarding championships and has also set 21 Guinness World Records in various categories. The records include the highest skateboard ramp jump, the longest boardslide, and the farthest reverse ramp jump by car.
