Salvatore Vulcano, best known as Sal Vulcano was born and raised in Staten Island, New York City. He’s an American born actor and producer. According to his ancestors he is a little bit Italian, Cuban and Puerto Rican.

Salvatore Vulcano went to Monsignor Farrell High School. There he tried himself in couple of sports, like basketball, hokey and football. From 1994 till 1998 he attended St. Johns University where he got his degree on finance.

As many boys in high school do, he and his friends constantly prank each other. Nevertheless, these boys took it to the next level.

Sal Vulcano and three of his friends Joseph “Joe” Gatto, James “Murr” Murray, Brian “Q” Quinn; created a team called The Tenderloins. The four of them met in 1990 in a Monsignor Farrell High School in which they all went. They were all interested in Improvisation Club as they saw it as a way to express themselves… And also a way to meet girls.

However, after college, some time they were apart but lucky circumstances brought them back together. Sal Vulcano, James Murray, and Mike Boccio, started practicing improvisation at Joe’s house. Finally, in 1999 the group went on a live tour as improve and sketch comedy troupe.

Comedy Sketches

They performed their act in Miami, San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. The group was consisting of five members at the time, but the fifth one, Gideon Horowitz, left for personal reasons. Also, when Mike Boccio was unavailable, his replacement was Brian Quinn. Mike Boccio is now a former member and instead of him Brian took his place.

The Tenderloins started producing comedy sketches. Their YouTube channel had millions of viewers, as well as MySpace and Metacaffe. The grand price of $100.000 was theirs in 2007 on the NBC’s competition It’s Your Show. Their sketch named “Time Thugs” won.

They made a pilot episode of the show Impractical Jokers, and TruTV premiered it on December 15th, 2011.

To begin with, hey filmed their pilot episode with their iPhones! The show consists of four friends making each other do pranks in public while they are filming the whole thing. However, the fact that separates this series from other hidden camera practical jokes is that the star of the prank before performing the joke on a stranger doesn’t know the details of the prank at all!

The series has six seasons and the seventh season is announced.

At first they all had a podcast “The Tenderloins Podcast”. Later on, Sal Vulcano and Brian Quinn started they own podcast “What Say You?” on what the other two members released their own podcast which made “What Say You” more popular than it already was. They got a Best New Show reward in 2013 and they were nominated at the 10th Annual Podcast Award in 2015 for the Comedy, Entertainment, and Best Produced Podcast Awards.

Sal Vulcano acted in couple of movies and Short Videos. He was an actor in James Murray’s movie Damned! He often acts in movies and TV shows together with his colleagues and friends, in TV Show Bones, he and James were playing a role of a sanitation worker. In a movie 12 Monkeys he played a security officer together with Joe Gatto.

It is interesting that Sal Vulcano was the most punished guy of all the Jokers. For punishment he got a tattoo on his tights. He tattooed Jaden Smith.

As one of the punishments he has to pretend that he was a writer  and he had to read his book in front of everybody. He was holding a book with blank pages and had to make up the story in a very moment. This was not that problem for Sal since he wrote two books, Impractical Jokers and Unti Impractical Jokers.

His parents, Dianne Fernandez and Sal Vulcano Sr. divorced when Sal was only four years old. His sister Kelly Ann is the eldest, and he has two younger sisters Dana and Jenna. The interesting fact is that he used Jenna in many pranks.

He doesn’t have a wife but he loves to tweet about her! Once he tweeted about his wife but that was just a joke. They often make statuses and post them on Facebook and instragram as intro to their pranks.
